The NFLPA, which represents the players, has been working behind the scenes to try to convince the league to make a decision by June 1 on whether players will be offered an extension or not.
But this week, the union told The Associated Press that it has not heard from the league.
This isn’t the first time the NFLPA has not reached a deal with the league and that it is a problem for the league in the short term.
In 2015, the league gave its top free agents a two-year extension.
