The jersey that became known as “The Ballad of Jackie Robinson” has been made a part of the Chicago Bulls’ 2017-18 uniforms.
The jersey is part of a collaboration with Nike that marks the 20th anniversary of the birth of the legend, as well as the 25th anniversary for the game-winning shot.
“We’re really excited to be able to share this jersey with the Bulls, and it is an incredible honor to share it with the city of Chicago,” Bulls owner Jerry Reinsdorf said in a statement.
“The jerseys we’ve worn for years are the ones that make us special, and the new look of the jerseys is a tribute to Jackie Robinson.
We are grateful to the NBA for partnering with Nike to create this unique collection.”
The jersey was officially unveiled at the Bulls’ home game against the New York Knicks on Saturday, and will be on sale to the general public on Monday.
It is expected to retail for $130.00.
The team will also be unveiling a new collection of jerseys in 2019.
The Bulls have not announced any plans for a new jersey, but they could be working on a new home and away jersey.
The franchise has yet to announce an official return to the jersey era, but the team has said it is “looking forward to a new chapter.”
